Percent Word Problems

Percent questions come in three shapes: find the part, find the whole, or find the percent. Naming which number is missing decides the step. If 12 is 30% of a number, the whole is the missing one, so divide: 12 ÷ 0.3 = 40. Reading the sentence matters more than the arithmetic.
