Track Intermediate Results

In a long problem the partial answers pile up, so each one needs a label saying what it counts. Write them down as you go, then use the labels to decide what to combine. From 96 cookies baked, 18 sold and 15 given away, the leftovers are 96 - 18 - 15 = 63.
