Discounts and Increases
A discount takes a percent off the original price, and an increase adds one on. Work out that percent of the starting amount first, then subtract it or add it. A 20% discount on a price of 50 takes off 10 and leaves 40. Multiplying by 0.8 reaches the same price in one step.
