Rate as a Comparison

A rate compares two quantities measured in different units, so the units are part of the answer. 240 words in 4 minutes, 3 euros for 2 kilograms, 60 litres per tank: each pairs one measure with another. Keeping the units attached is what stops a rate from being read backwards.
