Factors and Common Factors

A factor of a number divides it exactly, leaving no remainder, so 12 has the factors 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12. Each pair of factors is the sides of a rectangle built from that many squares. A common factor is one that two numbers share, like 4 for 12 and 20.
