Perimeter on Grids and Irregular Shapes

On a grid, perimeter counts the unit edges you walk along the outside of a shape, not the squares inside it. For an L-shaped or stepped figure, follow the boundary the whole way round and add every segment once, including the short ones where the outline turns inward.
