Shapes and Distance on the Coordinate Plane
Plot the vertices of a shape, join them, and the coordinates hand you its measurements. For a horizontal or vertical side, subtract the one coordinate that changes along it. The rectangle A (1, 1), B (5, 1), C (5, 4), D (1, 4) is 5 - 1 = 4 wide and 4 - 1 = 3 tall.
