Quadrants and Ordered Pairs
The two axes cut the plane into four quadrants, and the signs of a point's coordinates say which one it lands in. Quadrant I is (+, +), Quadrant II is (-, +), Quadrant III is (-, -), and Quadrant IV is (+, -). The point (-3, 2) therefore sits in Quadrant II.
